• A citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
• A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, or
• A person of Indian origin migrated from specific countries with the intention of permanent settlement.

Candidates must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University as of the cut-off date, which is August 1, 2026. Only candidates who have specific skills in stenography are eligible to apply, as a skill test is a mandatory part of the selection process.

The age limit will be calculated as of August 1, 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories (SC/ST: 5 years, OBC: 3 years, PwBD: 10-15 years, etc.) as per government rules.

• Stenographer Grade ‘C’: 18 to 30 years (Born between 02-08-1996 and 01-08-2008).
• Stenographer Grade ‘D’: 18 to 27 years (Born between 02-08-1999 and 01-08-2008).

The selection process for SSC Stenographer Grade C and D Recruitment 2026 involves multiple stages to ensure only the most skilled candidates are recruited:

1. Computer Based Examination (CBE): An objective type multiple-choice test consisting of General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension.
2. Skill Test in Stenography: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a dictation test for 10 minutes at a speed of 100 w.p.m. (Grade C) and 80 w.p.m. (Grade D).

3. Login using your Registration Number and Password.

5. Fill in the required details, upload your signature (10-20 KB), and select your preferred exam centers.
6. Proceed to pay the application fee if applicable.
7. Review the application form carefully and click “Submit.”
8. Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.

• ✅ Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in the CBE.
• ✅ Skill Test: The skill test is mandatory and qualifying in nature.
• ✅ Correction Charges: Rs. 200 for the first time and Rs. 500 for the second time during the correction window.
